…“A young man suffering from bipolar disorder, who lived all his life with his grandmother in Bucha—a town northwest of Kyiv—walked to the capital after his grandmother was shot by Russian soldiers in front of the entrance to her house. He completely lost his sense of time and doesn’t remember how long he was on the road. For a few days he lived in Kyiv at the train station, where he met a policeman who took him to a volunteer center in the city where an acquaintance of mine works.” (from the War Diary of Yevgenia Belorusets)
…In the town of Makariv, just outside of Kyiv, a Russian tank absolutely obliterated a civilian vehicle by opening fire — killing an elderly couple inside who appeared to be trying to flee. The tank unleashed a blast from a good distance on an open road, with nothing but the car in sight. There was no threat posed, and nothing to indicate Ukrainian soldiers were afoot, and yet, the tank operator fired on the vehicle. The man and woman inside died — a slaughter that appears to have been captured by a nearby surveillance camera.
…A mother, her teenage son and daughter aged about eight, were killed by a Russian shell as a column of refugees took advantage of a supposed ceasefire. They tried to flee the besieged city of Irpin near Kyiv, which has been without water or electricity for three days and residents tried to escape via a bridge on the east of the town. But the Russian troops began shelling the bridge before targeting the nearby street where refugees had no shelter. Witness Lynsey Addario, a New York Times photographer, wrote: “As the mortars got closer to the stream of civilians, people ran, pulling children trying to find a safe spot. But there was nothing to hide behind.”
The long list of war crimes committed by russians is growing day by day. The world must finally recognize russia as a terrorist state and take corresponding measures (hint: not talking over the phone to putin for hours). It understands only power and it must be dealt with strong power. No negotiations with terrorists!
